Did you know? Your skin is the largest organ of your body? Whenever you put lotion on, scrub out your tub, spray on cologne, or pump gas, your skin absorbs whatever it comes into contact with.
As a matter of fact, the average woman applies about 500 chemicals to her skin every day.
Over-exposure to some chemicals has been linked to nervous system toxicity and cancer. Some examples:
- Parabens – chemicals commonly found in commercial products – have been linked to breast cancer. A recent study from the University of Reading, UK, discovered parabens in nearly every human breast tumor they studied.
- Gold, touted as anti-inflammatory and anti-aging, has the opposite effect – accelerating aging and wrinkling and slowing the body’s natural healing processes.
When my oldest son was born, I knew I wanted to take good care of his skin by using all natural products. It wasn’t until he was older, and after I had the twins, that I started to figure out that the “all natural” products on the store shelves were still not natural enough.
Two of my sons had eczema through their toddler years. My third little boy had sensitive skin that would get dry in the cool winter months. So I did some research and found some truly all natural skin solutions that are far more beneficial than anything you can get from the cosmetics counter.
Here are my TOP THREE ALL NATURAL SKIN SOLUTIONS:
- Coconut Oil
- Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother)
You can use coconut oil for a hundred things – lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, diaper cream, eye-makeup remover, to treat yeast infections, as a frizz-ease for fly-away hair, chap stick, allergy relief, energy boost, to improve circulation, and soothe itch from bug bites…the list goes on.
We use apple cider vinegar (ACV) in our diet to help us stay healthy and we use it as a hair rinse – don’t worry, the smell goes away!
Honey is great for suppressing coughs, boosting immunity, and it’s an awesome moisturizer for your skin!
Do some research and let me know which products you replace with one of these three all natural alternatives!
